Letting go of the attachment to outcomes

Many of you would probably have heard it said that we attract into our lives what we need to have as a result of what we put out ourselves. This applies is in business as much as it does in our personal lives.

I would like to relate to you a personal story about how this has impacted me and how it relates to all of us. Now I know that at least one of my readers will understand what I am talking about because he offered this very same advice to me a year or so ago and of course at the time I didn’t pay much attention or understand.

In business we so often work so hard at living our dreams that we unfortunately can not separate ourselves from the outcome. When times are tough and we are endeavouring to find that next major customer or client and the bills are mounting up we quite often find ourselves in a “frantic” state.

A lesson I have since learnt and accepted is that “we must lose our attachment to the outcome”. What does this mean? If we are living our dream we have an emotional attachment to the end. After all a dream is an expression of our sub-conscious mind and will tie into our feelings. In business we can not afford this.

It is a case of “being” in the right state or frame of mind. When we are as such we find that we attract the right outcomes however whilst we are emotionally attached we invariably find that “things just don’t happen as they should”. By “being” our mind is open to new suggestions, we have removed the blinkers, the boundaries of our thinking are held back by our own self beliefs.

With an open mind we are able to accept new possibilities or consider options that are not limited by our own belief patters. We find that we attract into our lives what will move us forward.

How often have you heard the saying “bad things occur in three’s”? I tend to suggest that we create this in our own minds and as soon as we find three bad things we relax and feel that we can now move forward.

On a personal level I have found myself in times when business was looking tough and when I first started out it was looking very tough. When we all start off in our own business, we will take on anyone as a client, if they have a pulse we sit them down and do all we can to have them as a client. The harder I tried the result was the same – nothing.

As I said, I was advised to lose the attachment to the outcome. It was only when I did do just this did I find that my business turned around. All of a sudden I was having opportunities come my way. I also found that I myself became more self assured and confident. This was not just a one off occurrence. In fact it has occurred twice in the past 18 months and to Tim and his associates, I am now ever so grateful for this advice.

Maybe some of you are feeling this way yourselves sometimes. All I can do is to share this advice with you and ask that you believe in it and in yourselves. You must continue to take action to move yourself forward but simply lose the emotional attachment to the outcome.
